On 1 September we open a closed soft launch — a small room of testers, not the public. No storefront, no ads, no leaderboards worth chasing yet. Just the table, the tiles, and people willing to tell us exactly where it falls short.
Early builds on Google Play internal testing and Apple TestFlight. Jamaica Partner and Cut-Throat, online and offline against bots — months before anyone else gets to play.
Play like you would on the yard, then tell us what felt wrong. Rules that don't match how you play at home are the single most valuable thing you can report.
Roughly eight weeks of testing before we widen access. Seats are limited because every tester gets read, and there are only so many hours in a week.
The feel
Nobody places a domino. You land it. The table takes it. Everything we've built is in service of that one moment — and of making the moments around it quiet enough that it lands.
Every tile has mass. It doesn't glide into position — it drops, hits, and settles. You should feel the tile land through the screen.
The board isn't scenery. It takes damage across a round. Early plays leave hairline marks. Big plays crack it. The round-winning tile destroys it — then it reforms.
Destruction only reads as a payoff if most moves are quiet. A standard play is a modest thump. The spectacle is rationed on purpose.
At soft launch
Partner dominoes as it's actually played — four to a table, two to a team, no drawing, no mercy. This is the exact ruleset running in the build.
Four players, two teams of two. Partners sit opposite each other, so the player to your left and right are both opponents. You win together or not at all.
A full double-six set — 28 tiles, seven each, the whole deck dealt out. There is no boneyard. Nothing is held back, so every tile on the table is in somebody's hand and counting cards is the game.
Whoever holds the highest double leads with it — double-six goes down first if it's out. If nobody was dealt a double, the highest tile by pip count leads instead. Play moves around the table from there.
On your turn, match a tile to one of the two open ends of the chain. Can't match either end? You pass, and everyone knows what you don't have. Because there's no boneyard, a pass is information — and good partners read it.
Two ways out. Domino — you play your last tile and the round is yours. Block — all four players pass in a row and the board is dead with tiles still in hand.
Domino your hand and your team takes the round, scoring every pip still sitting in the opposing team's hands. On a block, the single lowest hand at the table wins the round for their team — and if the lowest hand is tied across both teams, nobody takes it. The round is a draw.
Walk out mid-round — quit or drop connection — and it's a resign. Your whole team forfeits and the opposing team scores your side's remaining pips. Partners depend on each other, so leaving has to cost something.
Playing three-handed or on your own? Cut-Throat ships alongside it at soft launch — same play, same lead, every player for themselves, two to four at the table.
What's next
Jamaica is where we start, not where we stop. Every island and every table plays it a little differently, and we intend to ship those differences properly rather than flatten them into one generic ruleset.

On the list
Eleven rulesets are planned for full launch. Dates aren't fixed — a variant ships when players from that island tell us it plays right, and not before.
